Zenbivy started in the US, where quilt-style sleep systems are more common. But while quilts offer greater versatility than traditional sleeping bags, they still have their flaws—drafts, gaps, and a lack of structure that can leave you feeling exposed. So, we took things a step further, creating the first fully integrated two-piece sleep system that combines the adaptability of a quilt with the security of a sleeping bag—without the usual drawbacks.

Michael Glavin
Michael Glavin is no stranger to the outdoor industry. Before creating the Zenbivy Bed, he led some of the most respected brands in the business, designing gear that has shaped the way people experience the outdoors. If you’ve spent time in the backcountry, you’ve probably come across some of his work—like the MSR® Hubba Hubba™ tent, the GSI® Dualist™ cook system, and the Sierra Designs® Backcountry Bed.
For 15 years, Glavin was on a mission to create the ultimate alternative to the mummy bag—a sleep system that would let you rest naturally, just like you do at home. As an avid backpacker himself, he pursued this idea while at Sierra Designs, developing the Backcountry Bed and Backcountry Quilt—the early predecessors to what would become the Zenbivy Bed.
In 2017, Zenbivy was born, offering a fully integrated two-piece sleep system that provided the warmth of a sleeping bag, the freedom of a quilt, and the comfort of a real bed. After years of success in the US, Zenbivy expanded to the UK in 2024, bringing the world’s most comfortable outdoor sleep system to even more adventurers.
