Our Story

Zenbivy was founded with a clear mission to create the most comfortable outdoor bedding the world has ever seen. We believe no matter what type of outdoor adventure you seek you perform better when you’re truly rested. So why do so many sleeping bag companies ignore this fact? They design bags that are light and warm but lack the comfort you experience when sleeping in your bed at home.

Whether you like to sleep on your back, side, or stomach, whether you toss and turn or sleep like a rock, we believe a sleeping bag should conform to your sleeping habits rather than you having to conform to its limitations. Try sleeping in an ultralight mummy bag on your stomach or tossing and turning from side to side—the results are always the same; bags twist, bags constrict, bags lead to a less than comfortable night of sleep.

That's why we created our beds, to let you sleep in any position you want. We created our quilts to offer the most versatile sleeping options which can adapt to whatever situation you find yourself in. We created our pillows to adjust to the exact height and softness you desire, and our mattresses to offer warmth, comfort, and ease of set up. We did all of this with the simple goal of letting you experience an amazing night of sleep—from the backcountry to the back of your car—just like your bed at home.

The Story of the Zenbivy Bed

Meet the Zenbivy Team

Mason

Marketing Manager

Mason Strehl is an avid outdoor adventurer, photographer, and storyteller based in Washington state. When he's not in the office, you can find him hiking in the backcountry, climbing peaks, or surfing. For most of the year, he’s traveling around and living out of his converted Toyota truck. He prioritizes gaining knowledge through experience and creating meaningful connections with others.

Mason has been with Zenbivy from the very beginning. He himself has logged over 800 nights in a Zenbivy Bed in almost every condition imaginable! From the ice fields of southern Patagonia to the Swedish Laplands, in the dry deserts of Arizona and through the rugged backcountry in his home state of Alaska, he shares the story of Zenbivy through his own adventures.

Kylie

Ecommerce Manager

Kylie joined the Zenbivy team in 2020 to help out in customer service and is now our Ecommerce Manager. Having grown up in Georgia, she did what a lot of outdoor-loving Georgia folk do: thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and then moved across the country to the PNW. When she's not in the office, she's probably somewhere in the forest.

Michael

Zenbivy Owner/Founder

"Glavin" is no stranger to the outdoor industry. Prior to creating the Zenbivy Bed, he led some of the best brands in the game. You’re probably familiar with a few of his inspirations such as the MSR® Hubba Hubba™, the GSI® Dualist™ and Sierra Designs® Backcountry Bed.

Before Zenbivy launched in 2017, he had spent 15 years striving towards the perfect mummy alternative that allows you to sleep in a bed like you do at home. As an avid backpacker himself, this was an endeavor he pursued in earnest at Sierra Designs while he was there, which resulted in the predecessors to the Zenbivy Bed: the Backcountry Bed and Backcountry Quilt.

Jim

Product Manager

Jim is a seasoned senior-level Product Manager with deep knowledge in managing performance apparel
& equipment. He's got dynamic leadership-style experience in the business development of both start-ups and large organizations in Outdoor, Military, and Work markets.

A people person through and through, Jim's passion for brand building and team building has played a significant role in the recent growth of Zenbivy. Outside of work, he's an avid backcountry skier, snowboarder, and runner. (He's also a fan of "jazz that rocks", but don't tell him we told you.)

Zoe

Content and Outreach Coordinator

Zoe landed in the great PNW to follow her true love, the outdoors. While getting her degree in marketing at Kennesaw State University, she shared her love for the outdoors while guiding trips at the Outdoor Adventure Center at KSU. Nowadays, Zoe is out smiling ear to ear on a MTB ripping down the dreamy PNW trails any chance she can get.

Zoe joined Zenbivy in January 2024 and is stoked to be on board supporting the Zenbivy community.
